UCNE adopts Spanish System of Medals for faculty members (Miami, Florida)

Updated: Nov 29, 2021

The Catholic University of New Spain becomes the first and only university in the United States with the Spanish system of medals and regalia for faculty members and academic authorities. Starting with the rector and members of the advisory board who are entitled to wear a medal with the full colors of the university, doctors and honorary doctors wear a gold medal, professors and honorary professors wear a silver medal, and associate fellows and honorary fellows wear a bronze medal. For less formal events miniatures and lapel pins are worn. This important tradition reinforces the values of the institution and strengthens the bonds between the members of the academic community.
