UCNE signs agreement with Universidad Isaac Newton in Costa Rica
The Catholic University of New Spain signed an important cooperation agreement with the Universidad Isaac Newton of Costa Rica. Student mobility, research cooperation, joint degree programs, and joint cultural activities were some of the many topics covered by the agreement. The agreement was on the 2nd of January at the San Carlos campus of Universidad Isaac Newton. Dr. Greivin Arrieta, Rector of the Universidad Isaac Newton, received an honorary doctorate from the Catholic University of New Spain for his many years of service in the field of education and in particular for his role in promoting higher education in rural areas of Costa Rica. Universidad Isaac Newton bestowed on Dr. Otto F. von Feigenblatt an honorary Doctorate of Science for his important contributions to the dissemination of science. The event was covered by the media and it is important to note that it is the first time that an international scholar receives an honorary doctorate in San Carlos, Costa Rica. Dr. von Feigenblatt delivered a lecture on the role of the professional in the 21st century and stressed the importance of flexibility and optimism. Prominent guests included former ministers, city mayors, business leaders, and other members of the community.
